Systématique

Le sous-genre Acanthogyrus (Acanthosentis) a été créé en 1929 par les parasitologues indiens S. C. Verma (d) et M. N. Datta (d) initialement comme un genre sous le taxon Acanthosentis[1] et avec comme espèce type ce qu'ils ont notés Acanthogyrus antspinus rebaptisé ultérieurement en Acanthogyrus antspinis.
