T. D. Kendrick
Thomas Downing "T. D." Kendrick, né le et mort le , est un archéologue britannique et un historien de l'art[1] spécialiste du haut moyen ùge.

Biographie
Kendrick est né à Handsworth, une banlieue de Birmingham en Angleterre[2], et a fait ses études à Charterhouse School et Oriel College, Oxford, pendant un an avant la premiÚre Guerre Mondiale, au cours de laquelle il a été blessé et a atteint le grade de capitaine.
SpĂ©cialisĂ© d'abord dans l'art prĂ©historique, Kendrick se tourne dans les annĂ©es 1930 vers l'art Viking et anglo-saxon,pour lequel ses deux volumes d'enquĂȘte sont de longs ouvrages de rĂ©fĂ©rence. Kendrick a Ă©tĂ© directeur du British Museum,de 1950 jusqu'Ă sa retraite en 1959. Il croyait au nettoyage des objets du musĂ©e, mais cela a eu pour consĂ©quence que de nombreux artefacts en bronze dans son dĂ©partement ont Ă©tĂ© nettoyĂ©s. Il Ă©tait un ardent dĂ©fenseur de l'art victorien, avec l'aide du poĂšte John Betjeman et du peintre John Piper, entre autres. Les notes de Kendrick sur le vitrail victorien ont Ă©tĂ© utilisĂ©es par Nikolaus Pevsner pour sa sĂ©rie Buildings of England (Pevsner Architectural Guides)[3]
Kendrick est mort Ă Dorchester dans le Dorset
