Orobothriurus tamarugal

Cette espèce est endémique de la région de Tarapacá en Chili[1]. Elle se rencontre entre 999 et 1 014 m d'altitude dans la pampa del Tamarugal dans la forêt de Prosopis tamarugo.

Le mâle holotype mesure 35,32 mm et la femelle paratype 30,12 mm, les mâles mesurent de 23,5 à 35,3 mm[1].

Son nom d'espèce lui a été donné en référence au lieu de sa découverte, la pampa del Tamarugal.
