Liste des municipalités du Kansas

Création et statut

Toutes les municipalitĂ©s du Kansas portent le nom de « city Â». Pour crĂ©er une municipalitĂ©, une loi de 1963 impose une population minimale de 250 habitants ou l'existence de 250 parcelles desservies par un rĂ©seau d'assainissement gĂ©rĂ© par une sociĂ©tĂ© Ă  but non-lucratif. Ces seuils ne s'appliquent cependant pas aux National Historic Landmarks[2].

Les municipalités sont divisées en trois classes, selon leur population[2] :

  • les municipalitĂ©s de 1re classe au-delĂ  de 15 000 habitants ;
  • les municipalitĂ©s de 2e classe entre 2 000 et 14 999 habitants ;
  • les municipalitĂ©s de 3e classe en dessous de 2 000 habitants.

Des dĂ©rogations laissent les municipalitĂ©s de 2e classe conserver leur statut jusqu'Ă  25 000 habitants, celles de 3e classe jusqu'Ă  5 000. Contrairement aux autres, les municipalitĂ©s de 3e classe se trouvent au sein d'un township[2].
