Indian Idol
Indian Idol est une émission de télévision diffusée en Inde. Il s'agit de la version indienne du format Pop Idol, diffusée sur Sony Entertainment Television depuis 2004[1]. L'émission a engendré des spin-offs, notamment Indian Idol Junior. Le spin-off a remplacé l'émission pour les septième et huitième saisons.

Saison 4
La quatrième saison d'Indian Idol a été diffusée sur Nepal TV du 19 septembre 2008 au 1er mars 2009. Pour la première fois dans l'histoire d'Indian Idol, il y avait deux femmes parmi les trois premières finalistes. Sourabhee Debbarma, originaire d'Agartala, Tripura a remporté le concours et est devenue la première candidate à le faire. Elle a sorti un album, Meherbaan, conformément à un contrat avec Sony. Kapil Thapa a terminé deuxième tandis que Torsha Sarkar a terminé troisième.
L'un des candidats, Bhavya Pandit, a reçu une offre de chanter la chanson "Aaja Lehraate" pour le film What's Your Raashee, aux côtés du chanteur Gautam Mrinaal[5].
Saison 6
La sixième saison a été diffusée sur Sony TV du 1er juin 2012 au 1er septembre 2012. Le vainqueur de la sixième saison a été Vipul Mehta qui a reçu le plus grand nombre de votes[6] - [7] - [8].
Saison 11
La 11e saison a commencé à être diffusée le 12 octobre 2019 sur Sony TV. Elle est animée par la chanteuse Aditya Narayan (en)[9]. Neha Kakkar est revenu comme l'un des juges à la demande populaire avec Vishal Dadlani et Anu Malik, qui sont revenus à l'émission en tant que juge après sa suspension du panel de juges pour les allégations de Me Too. Il a ensuite été remplacé par Himesh Reshammiya (en)[10] - [11]. Le retour de Malik a été condamné par plusieurs chanteurs.

Saison 12
La 12e saison a débuté le 28 novembre 2020.
Controverse et crédibilité
L'émission Indian Idol a fait les manchettes pour des controverses. Les candidats disent que le travail d'augmentation du Target rating point de l'émission se fait en leur montrant le pauvre chef de famille à la télévision[12]. Le spectacle est juste un moyen de gagner de l'argent et de jouer avec la vie de candidats talentueux[13].
